Marie is a mutli-faceted, highly results oriented doer that brings her passion for helping people to all of the different facets of her life. Her diverse background and deep experience in the disparate worlds of insurance and marketing provides her with a unique perspective and excellent “listening and reasoning” skills all of which set her apart in the fields that she occupies today.

Marie, the founder of Family Financial Services of Islip, NY, is a licensed insurance professional. The focus of Family Financial Services is to help families make the appropriate choice when they purchase Medicare, health, disability life and long term care insurance.    Marie also assists families with special needs in navigating the complex world of financial and legal planning. As part of her commitment to this end, she works collaboratively with other professionals in the special needs community and is a resource for the company’s clients. Her approach is holistic and she seeks to assist her clients to positively change their lives by teaching them how they can protect themselves and their families from life’s uncertainties.

Her past experiences in sales and marketing for organizations throughout Long Island and New Jersey have resulted in numerous success stories, including a proven record of problem solving achievements. For five years, Marie owned and operated her own franchise.  Prior to owning a franchise, she was a partner in a marketing/sales consultant firm, as well as a Director of Marketing for a consumer products company for 15 years. In addition, she has travelled extensively overseas developing a number of strategic manufacturing and marketing alliances.

Marie is a sought-after speaker for Medicare insurance planning and special needs planning.  She has written articles on the topic of special needs children and parents of special needs children. Her article, “A Historic Day: The Celebration of Downs Syndrome,” was published in New York Parent Magazine in 2012.   She is also a contributing author to a best seller “Journey to the Stage.”

As an active member of organizations such as “Camp Northstar,” (Board of Directors) and “Toys of Hope” (also on the Advisory Board), her dedication and guidance has not gone unnoticed. Through her leadership and volunteerism at Camp Northstar (campnorthstar.org), and a respite program at St. Philip Neri Church (stphilipnerinpt.org), these organizations have flourished and grown. She was an officer on the Board of Directors for The Long Island Way, a networking organization whose mission is to bring businesses and non-profits together and promote community awareness. In addition, Marie is an active member and facilitator in many networking groups.    She is also on the board of SCWBEC as membership director.

For more than a decade, Marie has been a dedicated volunteer, devoting her free time to community service/volunteerism. She was the recipient of the “2010 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year,” awarded by The Long Island Way.  Marie was awarded a proclamation from Suffolk County for our significant contributions to the community in 2015.

Marie’s professional and personal knowledge enables her to relate and understand the needs of people with different abilities.  Her love of volunteering over the years and passion for helping special needs individuals steered her toward finding a solution to ensure special needs individuals receive the  same opportunities as the general population.

In 2013, she launched Changing Hands, an approved 501 © (3) non-profit organization. The goal of Changing Hands is to promote self-confidence for individuals with special needs on a one-to-one and collective basis. She is the founder and Executive Director of this organization, whose mission aspires to “empower, inspire, and enrich the community and individuals with special needs through volunteering.” They provide volunteer opportunities to people with disabilities, primarily learning and developmental, with an opportunity to lead fulfilling lives by being contributing members of society. Far too often they are overlooked or passed over because of their abilities. Through Marie’s volunteer efforts she has seen the power of “giving back” to society.
